Notaries Society training day May 09
The Holborn Grange London. This great panoramic shot by photographer (and notary public) Basil

Basil Preuveneers writes. At this education day there were many newly qualified notaries and also some of us who
have been around for years. It is always most interesting for me to go along to these education days because there is always
something new to be learnt and old stuff to be re-learnt. |

Secretary, Christopher Vaughan introduces the day. |

The most important lesson of all to learn is what the primary duty of the notary is. The Notary’s primary duty is
to make sure that the person signing the document is who they say they are and that they broadly understand the importance

The Education Day also included an update of the checks we need to make regarding passports. It is quite surprising
that possibly one in 20 of the passports we see are forgeries.
At Notary Co UK we have already acted on Tom Craig’s advice and
use a UV light and this is proved very useful in detecting the more obvious forged passports and bank notes.
Thanks to all speakers* and organiser for a well put together presentation.
